Atrium Tabs is built to be local-first and private. We believe software should respect your boundaries, which is why we do not operate telemetry, tracking servers, or user accounts.


We do not collect, log, or transmit any personal information, location profiles, or browsing history.

Any text entered into the Search Bar is sent directly to your chosen search engine (such as Google, DuckDuckGo, or Brave) and is never routed through or logged by Atrium Tabs.


All of your preferences, customization settings, and shortcuts live entirely on your device inside your browser's local storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). We have no access to this data.

• Firefox Sync (Optional): If you enable the optional Settings Sync feature in settings (disabled by default), your preferences are synchronized across your devices using Mozilla's built-in Firefox Sync infrastructure. Synced data is governed directly under Mozilla's Firefox Privacy Notice.
• Data Removal: Clearing your browser's local cache or site data for the extension will immediately wipe all stored preferences and return Atrium Tabs to its default state.

To provide optional features, Atrium Tabs communicates client-side with specific external services. Requests are only initiated when the corresponding feature is active:

• Weather Forecasts:
• Forecast data is fetched client-side directly from the Open-Meteo API (licensed under CC BY 4.0).
• City lookups and place naming rely on OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service (ODbL).
• In automatic location mode, Atrium Tabs requests approximate coordinates via the browser's standard geolocation prompt. Only latitude and longitude coordinates are sent to resolve the local forecast. Weather queries are never tied to an identity or account.
• Favicon Lookups: Shortcut icons are retrieved using Google's Favicon Service, which receives only the domain name of the saved shortcut.
• Daily Quotes: Inspirational greeting quotes are cached locally for two hours. In the browser extension, quotes are retrieved from the ZenQuotes API. On the hosted web version, quotes are loaded offline from a bundled static list.
• Background Gallery: Sample images are browsed via the Picsum Photos API, and curated high-resolution backgrounds are loaded from Unsplash.
• Search Suggestions: If Google is set as your active search engine, partial query text is sent to Google's suggestion endpoint to display live autocomplete predictions as you type.

Because your preferences and shortcuts reside on your local machine, the security of your configuration relies on the safety of your operating system profile and browser environment. We recommend keeping your browser and system updated to the latest security releases.


Because we do not store your data on external servers or maintain accounts:

• You maintain complete control over your setup at all times.
• You can modify, export, or wipe your configuration directly from the extension settings or browser storage settings.
• Atrium Tabs does not act as a data controller or data processor under GDPR, CCPA, or related privacy regulations, as no personal data ever touches our infrastructure.

We may occasionally update this policy to reflect new capabilities or changes in external APIs. All updates will be published directly in the project repository and outlined in release notes.
