About this extension
Boxing turns your new tab into a visual, infinite-canvas workspace for bookmarks.
Instead of flat folders, organize links into labeled boxes you can drag, connect, and nest.

FEATURES

Infinite canvas
• Pan and zoom with Ctrl+scroll
• Unlimited boxes on one canvas
• Connect boxes with lines to show relationships
• Parent-child movement: move a parent, children follow
• Double-click empty space to create a box
• Right-click to go back to the parent canvas

Bookmark management
• Each box has its own bookmark collection
• List and grid views
• Add, edit, and delete bookmarks in a clean dialog
• Custom title, URL, and description per bookmark
• Drag to reorder inside a box
• Open links in the current tab or a new tab (configurable)

Hierarchical organization
• Boxes can contain a sub-canvas — click to enter
• Breadcrumb navigation for your path
• Nest as deep as you need; each level stays independent

Design and theme
• Calm beige/cream minimalist look
• Light and dark mode (follows the system)
• Adjustable font size and zoom
• Smooth SVG connection lines
• Optional rounded corners

Privacy first
• All data stays on your device (browser local storage)
• Optional WebDAV backup to a server you control
• Optional GitHub Gist backup
• No analytics, no tracking, no third-party services
• Open source (Apache-2.0)

Connections
• Delete a line with Alt+Click (also configurable to click or double-click)
• Visual lines between related boxes

PERMISSIONS

storage — store bookmarks, layout, and settings locally
tabs — open bookmarks in a new tab when you choose that
optional host access (Chrome) / host access (Firefox) — only when you set up WebDAV backup to your own server

We do not request browsing history, downloads, clipboard, or other activity data.

USE CASES

• Research projects — one canvas per project, boxes per topic
• Long-term bookmark collections, organized visually
• Knowledge maps with spatial links
• A quick dashboard of your most-used links on every new tab
