Clipwell is a browser extension that helps you detect and save media already loaded by the active tab. It is built to run entirely on your device: no telemetry, no tracking, no accounts.
- Zero data collection
Clipwell does not collect, record, transmit, or sell personal data. - No names, emails, IP addresses, or user identifiers
- No browsing history, page contents, or downloaded files sent anywhere
- No analytics, crash telemetry, or third-party SDKs
- How permissions are used (local only)
- storage: settings, profiles, recipes, site rules, Later, and Favourites on this device
- downloads: save, cancel, and progress through Firefox’s download manager
- activeTab: temporary access to the tab you opened Clipwell on, after a click or shortcut
- scripting: inject local content.js into that same tab after the same gesture (not installed on all sites)
- tabs: title and URL for filenames and site rules; clean up when a tab closes
- optional webRequest + host access: only if you enable “Read media headers on every site.” Headers only. No bodies, cookies, or credentials
- sidebar: Firefox sidebar UI (Chrome builds use a side panel)
Install does not request access to every website.
- Third parties
No remote JavaScript. No backend during normal use. Optional Plus checkout is handled by Stripe. Clipwell does not store card numbers. - Sharing
No user data is collected, so none is shared or sold. - Children
No personal information is collected from anyone, including children under 13. - Changes
