💡 Functionality:

The purpose of a clickbait headline is to force the reader to open the article just to find out the basic facts. When the topic is already in the headline, you don't have to waste time opening "mystery articles" only to be disappointed.

The extension recognizes supported Finnish news websites and automatically corrects their click-seeking headlines right in your newsfeed. No separate apps are needed.

⭐ Key Features:

• Open a news site normally and let the extension handle the rest. Clickbait headlines are swapped out on the fly for corrected versions. You will only notice the extension's presence through a calmer news day and reduced annoyance.
• Adjust the level yourself. Do you want to turn all headlines into super-dry facts, or just correct the most annoying clickbait?
• An AI indicator shows when a story has characteristics typical of AI-generated or translated text. You can immediately see if a piece is worth your time when the author couldn't be bothered to write it themselves. The indicator is active right after installation; if you wish, you can also enable indicators for videos and corrected headlines.
• You can send feedback on headlines directly through the extension. Based on feedback, the correction is re-evaluated if necessary. Giving feedback is entirely optional.

⚙ How it Works:

1. Klikkikuri's backend service analyzes news headlines using language technologies, user feedback, and identified stakeholders.
2. If a headline is classified as misleading, a dry but content-accurate who-what-where version is created and added to the downloadable correction list.
3. The Klikkikuri Paatti extension periodically downloads this correction list and updates the clickbait headlines on websites to the corrected versions.

⚙ How it Works:

1. Klikkikuri's backend service reads the story and analyzes the headline. Finally, a language model evaluates whether the headline matches the content of the article.
2. If a headline is classified as misleading, a dry but content-accurate who-what-where version is created and added to the correction list. User feedback guides the correction of this list.
3. Klikkikuri Paatti periodically downloads the correction list to your device and replaces the clickbait headlines of supported sites with the corrected versions.

🕵 Privacy:

Headline detection happens entirely on your device: the extension compares the page's links against the locally saved correction list and does not send your browsing history anywhere. The extension neither tracks nor saves your reading habits. All statistics remain in your own browser and can be deleted with a single button press.

During normal use, only three things are sent over the network:

• the correction list download from GitHub,
• fetching a supported site's icon, if you are visiting the site anyway,
• and your feedback, if you choose to send it. In that case, the page URL, along with the original and corrected headline, are included.

❌ What Klikkikuri Paatti Doesn't Do:

• Klikkikuri does not change the content of the news or censor anything. Whether Yle leans left, right, up, or down—Klikkikuri doesn't interfere. It only intervenes with misleading headlines: the news text itself, the images, and the original factual content remain entirely untouched.
• Klikkikuri does not protect against fake news, nor does it evaluate the truthfulness of claims. It solely ensures that the headline matches the actual content of the story.
• Klikkikuri doesn't get in your way. It is not a news app and doesn't offer its own news feed; you continue reading your chosen news sources normally.
• Klikkikuri does not work on Twitter, Facebook, or other social media platforms.
• Klikkikuri does not correct sites it doesn't support.
• Klikkikuri does not correct sports news headlines, as the correction list does not cover sports.
