About this extension
Library Cleaner for ChatGPT is an unofficial bulk file-management tool for the ChatGPT Library.
The extension is shown only when the user opens the ChatGPT Library page:
Open ChatGPT Library
After opening the Library, a red launcher button appears in the bottom-right corner of the page. The button opens the extension panel, where the user can count, move, or permanently delete Library items.
The extension processes files in controlled batches, making large cleanup operations significantly faster than deleting every file individually through the standard ChatGPT interface.
It lets users:
The extension does not download Library files to the user's device.
It does not send account information, file information, authentication data, or browsing activity to the developer or to any third-party server.
All Library operations are performed directly between the user's browser and chatgpt.com using the user's existing ChatGPT session.
The extension does not contain:
Authentication information is used only in memory while the ChatGPT page is open. It is not saved by the extension.
File names, file identifiers, deletion history, account information, and Library contents are not stored by the extension.
The only persistent setting saved by the extension is the user's selected interface language: Polish or English.
Destructive actions always require explicit confirmation.
The extension remains hidden outside the ChatGPT Library page. It does not display its page launcher on conversations, settings, or other ChatGPT pages.
This is an unofficial third-party extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI. ChatGPT is a trademark of OpenAI.

Active file counting is now more resistant to temporary ChatGPT backend errors.
Instead of immediately failing when the server returns a temporary error, the extension automatically retries the request.
Supported retry conditions include:
File categories are also processed more gradually to reduce backend load when working with large libraries.
The Delete All / Move Everything to Trash operation now uses the same retry mechanism.
This helps prevent large cleanup operations from failing because of temporary server timeouts.
The Permanently Deleted Files → Delete All / Empty Trash operation has been significantly improved.
Permanent deletion now automatically retries when ChatGPT returns errors such as:
** file.deletion.error
** UnexpectedStatusCode
Sometimes ChatGPT may successfully delete a file but fail to confirm completion before the request times out.
For example:
The extension now handles this situation more safely.
If a retry receives:
after an earlier deletion attempt, the file can be treated as already deleted instead of being reported as another failure.
Permanent bulk deletion is now performed more carefully.
This reduces the chance of triggering backend timeouts during large cleanup operations.
