LINKWISE PRIVACY POLICY (browser add-on)

The full policy, covering the iOS app and the website as well, is at https://linkwise.app/privacy. This is the part that applies to the add-on.

WHAT WE COLLECT

Account data. An email address, and the name and profile picture your identity provider returns if you sign in with Google or Apple. An account is required to use Linkwise.

The things you save. The URL, title, description, preview image and favicon of a page you choose to save, plus the highlights, notes, tags and collections you create. This is the product: it is stored in your account so it is there on your other devices.

Page content you submit to an AI feature. When you ask AI about a page, ask for an insight, or open the reader, the text of that page or the passage you selected is sent to our backend to answer over. Nothing is sent until you ask.

Bookmarks, only if you import them. The bookmarks permission is optional and declined by default. It is requested at the moment you choose to import, and you can revoke it at any time.

WHAT WE DO NOT DO

We do not sell, rent or share your data for marketing or advertising.
We do not track your browsing. The add-on has no analytics SDK and sends no telemetry.
We do not passively read, log or transmit the pages you visit. The content script waits for you to act.

WHEN THE ADD-ON READS A PAGE

The content script is present on the pages you visit so that saving and highlighting work without a reload, but it is event driven and transmits nothing until you invoke Linkwise.

One feature acts on page load rather than on a click: search engine matching. On Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Baidu results pages, Linkwise reads the search terms in the address bar and runs them as a search of your own library, so bookmarks you already saved can appear beside the results. Nothing else on those pages is read, and the terms go nowhere except to your own account's search. It has its own switch in Settings, Browser extension, Search engine matching, and turning it off stops the search being made at all.

WHERE IT GOES

The add-on is granted network access to exactly one host, our Supabase backend. It has no permission to send anything anywhere else. Supabase provides our database, authentication and serverless functions. Subscription status comes from RevenueCat, with payments handled by Apple or by Paddle as merchant of record. we never receive card details.

PERMISSIONS AND WHY

ActiveTab, tabs: read the URL and title of the current tab when you invoke Linkwise, save several open tabs at once, and open Linkwise's own pages.
Storage: keep your session and preferences in the browser.
identity: sign you in through Google OAuth.
ContextMenus: add Save to Linkwise to the right-click menu.
Alarms: schedule session renewal and background refresh.
Notifications: show save confirmations and plan-limit notices.
Bookmarks (optional): only for importing your existing bookmarks, only if you ask.

YOUR CHOICES

Export your entire library at any time from Settings. Delete your account and the data goes with it. Ask us anything at support@linkwise.app.
