WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

Most free video downloaders detect a .m3u8 streaming link and then hand you a 2 KB text file that won't play. That's not a download — that's a playlist.

Media Downloader Pro finishes the job. It reads the stream manifest, shows every quality, downloads all the segments, decrypts AES-128 where needed, and writes ONE MP4 to your disk — with the audio track merged in, even on streams that keep sound separate (which is every DASH stream and most modern HLS). No .ts files, no silent video, no ffmpeg.

Long downloads keep running after you close the panel — or dock the panel beside the page and watch. The Saved tab shows exactly where each file landed.

FEATURES

▸ HLS / M3U8 VIDEO DOWNLOADER — Detects streaming video, lets you pick the quality (2160p, 1080p, 720p…), downloads every segment and merges them into one MP4. AES-128 encrypted streams supported.

▸ DASH / MPD DOWNLOADER — Same for MPEG-DASH. Picture and sound are separate tracks in DASH; this downloads both and writes them into a single MP4 with the audio already in it.

▸ RECORD LIVE STREAMS — A live broadcast offers "Record until I press Stop". The recording follows the stream from the moment you start it, shows the running time, and is saved as one MP4 when you stop. Or save the part still in the playlist (roughly the last hour) in one go.

▸ SIDE PANEL — Dock the panel beside the page. It stays open while you browse, follows whichever tab you're on, and keeps a long download's progress in view. One click from the title bar, or make it the default in Settings.

▸ DOWNLOAD QUEUE — Select several streams and they download one after another at best quality, in the background. Remove a queued one before it starts.

▸ MP4 BY DEFAULT — Merged streams are saved as MP4, losslessly, so they open in QuickTime, Windows, phones, Premiere, Resolve and DaVinci. A switch in Settings keeps the raw .ts if you prefer.

▸ AUDIO ONLY — Save just the sound of any video or stream as an M4A. Streams that keep audio in its own track fetch only that track.

▸ CONVERT VIDEO TO MP4 — WebM, MKV, MOV and .ts files can be saved as MP4 (the browser's own encoder does the work; nothing is uploaded). Images can be saved as PNG, JPEG or WebP with a quality slider. Every Save button tells you which format you're about to get.

HOW TO USE IT

1. Pin the icon (puzzle piece → pin next to Media Downloader Pro).
2. Open any page with a video, gallery or audio on it. The number on the icon is how many files were found. If a video only loads when you press play, press play first.
3. Click the icon and hit Save. A normal file downloads immediately. A stream opens a quality picker — choose one and the segments are fetched, merged and saved as MP4 for you.

PRIVACY

No account. No analytics. No telemetry. No server. No ads.

Everything happens on your own machine. The list of detected media lives in temporary session storage and is erased when you close the browser. Downloads go straight from the website to your disk — nothing passes through us, because there is no "us" to pass through.

The extension asks for access to all sites for one reason: media can be on any site, and video segments are almost always served from a different domain (a CDN) than the page you're on. That access is used only to detect and download media you ask for.

HONEST LIMITATIONS

▸ DRM-protected video (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Spotify and similar) cannot be downloaded. That content is encrypted at a level no browser extension can reach, and this one does not try.

▸ Streams using HEVC/H.265 or AC-3 audio, and MPEG-TS streams over 1 GB, are saved as .ts rather than MP4 — the file still plays in VLC and mpv, and the Saved tab tells you when this happened. DASH streams have no size limit.

▸ Live streams can be recorded from the moment you press Record, or the part still in the playlist (roughly the last hour) can be saved — not the broadcast from its start.

▸ Some sites deliberately protect their media and will not work.
