- User-Generated Content: This includes the text notes, checklists, drawings, and images you create and save within the Extension.
- Device Identifiers: We generate an anonymous, randomized Device ID stored locally on your machine to manage layout preferences, themes, and autosave intervals without needing to track your personal identity.
To function properly, Tap Notes requests the following browser permissions:
-
storage & unlimitedStorage: Used exclusively to save your notes, images, drawings, and application settings locally on your device (using IndexedDB and Browser Local Storage) so they are available offline and load instantly. We use the collected information strictly for the operation and improvement of the Extension:

- Synchronization & Backup: If you create an account, we use your email to authenticate you and securely sync your notes across your devices.
- Personalization: To remember your layout (grid/list), theme (dark/light), and autosave preferences.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or notes to any third parties. We do not inject advertisements or track your general web browsing activity.
- Local Storage: By default, your notes, drawings, and images are stored securely on your local device within the browser's sandboxed environment.
- Cloud Storage: If you authenticate, your data is securely transmitted and stored using Google Firebase (our backend provider). Firebase employs industry-standard encryption protocols (both in transit and at rest) to protect your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
