About this extension
WHAT YOU CAN DECIDE ON MONDAY MORNING

Which hours went to client work. Who is carrying two people's load and who is idle by 3pm. Whether a project's burn matches the progress reported in standup. This extension is the part of WorkMonitor that measures the browser: roughly every 60 seconds it reports the active tab's bare domain and title to your organization's WorkMonitor workspace, where managers see it in that member's activity record.

THE HALF OF THE DAY A DESKTOP AGENT CANNOT SEE

The WorkMonitor desktop agent reports which application was in front: "Microsoft Edge was frontmost 62% of the day." That is the least useful 62% you own, because the CRM, the ticket queue, the design tool and the video site all live in there. This extension splits it open: of that 62%, github.com 40%, mail.google.com 20%, meet.google.com 12%. It enrolls as its own device under the same member, so both streams describe one person.

SCORING, NOT JUST LOGGING

Sites are scored against your workspace's own category catalog, so github.com can count as productive and youtube.com as distracting. Browser time then ranks alongside desktop applications in the same report, so productivity scores, efficiency analytics and time totals cover the whole day. Operations sees where hours leak and what to rebalance before it becomes overtime; HR gets attendance and overload signals collected automatically instead of chased by email.

WHAT IS CAPTURED

• The bare domain of the active tab: github.com, never the full address. "www." is stripped; path and query are dropped and never sent.
• The tab title, as the browser displays it.
• No content scripts. It never reads page contents, captures screenshots or records keystrokes or clicks; key and click counts are hard zero in every payload.
• Focus and idle steer only the engagement level reported. They never change what is sent.
• Offline samples buffer locally and upload later without double-counting, so a dropped connection is not a gap in the record.

WHY THE ROLLOUT DOES NOT STALL

Monitoring programs rarely fail on technology; they fail in a legal review or a grievance months later. The dataset here is deliberately minimal, a domain rather than a URL, which is what a privacy officer signs off and small enough to show a works council in full. The Settings screen lists exactly what is captured, so a challenged decision comes with a record behind it instead of an argument.

SETUP AND CONTROLS

Sign in with a work email and password, or a one-time enrollment token from an administrator; the password is never stored. The toolbar icon opens a popup with monitored status, current site, last sync, samples waiting to upload, and one-click Pause and Sign out.

REQUIREMENTS

A workplace tool deployed under an employer's policy; needs a WorkMonitor workspace. Best paired with the WorkMonitor desktop agent, which covers applications, attendance and time outside the browser.
