by PetrosM, 8 months agoI am amazed how far password managers have come! I chose Proton to better secure my accounts because of their focus on privacy but their focus on SECURITY goes so under represented.
AT TIME OF WRITING (always check review dates, software changes) its SEAMLESS. Literally i just transferred all of my passwords right across, it syncs and works seamlessly on android, windows, browsers, etc. And its also worked amazing at helping remove duplicates, secure old accounts, add 2FA to everything, even opt out of marketing (this wasnt by design but the page it takes you to to manage your accounts is usually right next to all of the privacy opt-outs, so ive been using this to opt out of advertiser profiles too)
And beyond all that you can even attach things to your passwords! This is a double edged sword though. You can use it to attach recovery codes for authenticators!... but then your password manager becomes very high risk and youll need to lock it down like fort knox.
Or you can be clever and attach hints and clues for account recovery (e.g "the recovery codes are in the third draw in the metal tin")
Adore this, loving proton so far!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Will, 5 days agoGood, but needs slightly better field recognition. Still have to manually copy and paste on some sites.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17887210, 5 days agoWorks great on most points!
But the current bug with PIN code not getting focus on opening is a problem and really needs to be fixed. I have to explicitly place the mouse in the field, which is super unproductive.
I'm experiencing the same issue in Firefox in both Linux and Windows, and I also noticed it in the Proton Pass desktop app at some moments.
Though it seems that when using the shortcut keys (Ctrl+Shift+Y and Ctrl+Shift+L) the issue doesn't seem to happen in the browser.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by apk, 5 days agoMy passwords are now obscured by a giant advertisement every time I open the extension. As a paying customer, I am disgusted.
