I’ve had a great experience with Proton VPN’s Firefox extension. It’s simple to install, quick to connect, and works reliably without slowing down my browsing.
My normal connection is around 950 Mbps download and upload, and I typically get 800 to 900 Mbps when connected to a premium Proton server in New York City. That is excellent performance for a VPN.
Proton VPN also works across all major platforms. Proton Unlimited, or Proton VPN Plus with Proton Pass, offers great value for privacy focused users. Overall, it’s a fast and user friendly VPN that I’m happy to recommend. Developer response
posted 3 hours agoSorry to hear that. Our team is aware of the issue and working on fixing it. We've documented your report as well in the meantime.- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 18899970, 2 days agoFour stars because I've used this for years without any hiccups, not five since it has been days since I have been able to use it on any Firefox-based browser. Works fine on Chromium-based browsers. This is important and needs to be fixed yesterday. People might be browsing the web without any protection, since they don't realize their connection to this VPN has been lost for so long now.

posted 4 hours agoThat doesn't sound right. Which browser are you experiencing the issue with exactly? Are your browser and the Proton VPN extension both up-to-date? Do you happen to be using any other extensions for privacy/security purposes? What type of internet connection are you using? Contact us at protonvpn.com/support/contact with more details so we can help you troubleshoot. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18191082, 3 days agoApp is Silently Crashing constantly while in use. The icon on the toolbar will be lit up green like it's connected and working fine, but no website will load, so I'll click on the extension and will just get an endless spinning wheel that never loads. This happens multiple times a day at random, making using the extension pointless.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12748559, 5 days agoFrequently I resume my session from suspend or hibernate on Windows, and the plugin popup window displays a spinner forever. Disabling and re-enabling the plugin does not help. Deeply unreliable.

Block all web traffic if I didn't deactivate the addon. (A kill button seems to be mandatory)

- Rated 3 out of 5by Dm, 7 days agoIt works... mostly... I am increasingly running into the issue of sites refusing to let me connect when I am using Proton VPN servers. This needs to be sorted.
Developer response
posted 4 days agoThank you for the review. Unfortunately, some websites are not VPN-friendly and block known VPN IP addresses. Contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact with more details about the websites in question, as well as the servers you're connected to when trying to access them so we can note your feedback for future improvement. Meanwhile, try switching between multiple different servers to see how it goes. - Rated 5 out of 5by lucky, 7 days ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by exosphere, 8 days agoUsing the free version. Very reliable and fast to connect. Though the region is kinda random, still does the job, and allows to change to another random server every once in a while.

However, they need to include this in the description: unless you have the paid plan, you cannot choose what country you want (even from the 10 free countries offered in the plan). The only option on the free plan is Quick Connect, which auto-connects you.
Developer response
posted 4 days agoThank you for the review. The default Connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to change servers, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server in a country of your choice (https://protonvpn.com/pricing). - Rated 5 out of 5by Erdemus, 10 days ago

It was the only free VPN I trusted and used and it worked great. However as of yesterday it stopped working. I've tried to uninstall it but it actually won't let me, and if I try to click on the icon/widget it is just a neverending spinning circle. Also, I keep getting a popup that says "Your networks seems to be blocking Proton. The extension can't bypass this. Try the desktop app instead"
This is very frustrating to especially since the mobile version keeps workings fine for now. I originally thought it might be a problem on my end, but apparently this has been an issue for many other people. Dropping my review so hopefully others know they aren't aloneDeveloper response
